We were extremely pleased with our tasty vegan breakfast that we decided to come back for more the following day. The pancakes we ordered, topped with raspberries and blueberries instead of seitan, were cooked perfectly - fluffy and golden brown. What amdgriggs doesn't like about Pepino Deli:
It seems almost inconceivable now, 2 days after Boris Johnson announced a near complete lockdown, that just 9 days ago we were in here having a coffee and a cake before setting off on the next 10 mile leg of the Peak District Boundary Walk, to Dovestone Reservoir, just outside Greenfield. I visited the amazing pepino cafe in glossop on the other day and I can't recommend it enough. the menu was the perfect size with many exciting options to suit everyone. I ordered the pastrami roasted sandwich, which was absolutely devine and as they can see, also a large size for £7! the personal was great and showed me the homemade meat that they sold before site.
Service was great. we had breakfast packages that were really delicious! good portion size.
We were staying near Bakewell and had visited the few vegan cafes in that area but decided to travel a bit further into Glossop to check out Pepino Deli. It's a charming café with welcoming staff. It seems a popular spot as three of the half a dozen or so tables were already occupied just after 12,15pm. I ordered the Sweet Chilli Chx made up of marinated tofu, pineapple and red pepper in a sticky sweet chilli sauce with broccoli and giant cous cous. I was presented with a pungent bowl with aromas of garlic and chilli and it was absolutely luscious! Neal ordered the Chickpea Chuna Melt smoked chickpeas and nori in a mayo dressing, red onion and melted cheese on ciabatta. It arrived with tiny sautéed potatoes and a crisp slaw. Pronounced most enjoyable by himself. The deli also sells some lovely vegan cheeses and vegan meats such as smoked ham and salami. And there was cake! I ordered a raspberry and custard slice to take away. Unusual combination but very yummy. Apparently Pepino Deli is related to Plant Planet in Castleton so we will try and make it there later this week.
Really nice to stop for a fully vegan lunch after a walk with the dog. (Dogs welcome and given a bowl of water) I ordered a tofu twister wrap which was really tasty, fresh and filling. Also had a delicious Black Forest milkshake which was great! Lovely place, friendly staff. Lots of families in too. Very welcoming. Updated from previous review on 2022-02-23
The deluxe hot chocolate was great, so many marshmallows, so pretty. Full breakfast was fabulous, herby sausages, fantastic vecan and juicy big mushrooms. Ripe soft avocados and the beans were standard. Everything was really good except for the hash browns, they were potato....nubbins? Not cooked properly or something...maybe just about undercooked? The server was so bubbly, loved her energy. Also, they do birthday cakes!
