"We were recommended this by a friend back home in Georgia and we were not disappointed. The Syrian kale/pistachio salad was a perfect way to start our dinner. Followed by a Ling Cod special and Salmon Udon bowl. Topping that off with the walnut brownie made for one of the most fantastic dinners we experience not just in Alaska but anywhere."

"This is the best meal I've had in Alaska, and one of the best I've had period. Little Mermaid is surrounded by the kitsch of the Homer Spit, and looks the part, but this is creative fine dining that would stand out anywhere. Reservations for one of the five booth seats are definitely recommended. A few stools and counters offer a little extra seating out by the dessert case. You can hear and smell the kitchen, giving it a fun laid back vibe. If you like oysters, go for it. A watermelon ice and roe garnish didn't overwhelm the flavor but complimented perfectly. The salads are great and large portions. The menu lists a daily catch, a chop, and a rice bowl. When we visited, the catch was halibut seared in a ceasar dressing (perfect) with perfect rice and crispy broccoli. The bowl was bibimbap with shrimp and duck eggs. Order to share because the portions are generous, making the price point actually a good value. We didn't have the pizza but its reputation is great among locals. Finally the dessert. I'm not a big sweets fan but my wife and her sister are cupcake aficionados. They picked two of the inventive flavors and it played off. Don't skip it. Don't waste time and money on touristy money grabs; save for a perfect meal at Little Mermaid."

"The waiting time for the party of two on Wednesday night at 6PM was 30 minutes and can up to 1-2 hours depending on the size of the party. Parking is difficult. In the evening they had already sold on their skalopps. We ordered Clam Chowder, the tasty but light on seafood taste, although they use razor shells. The baked vinegar was moist and house salad had fresh green. One thing remarkable was served light on vegetables with Entrée that can be discretion through the supply chain or cooking. Hostess and servers were friendly and welcoming. Server was attentive to notice when a Gastlachs was cooked over medium weight and replaced with a properly cooked salmon."

"Crab was overcooked, dry, and rubbery although they did replace it and the second leg was much more juicy but still slightly rubbery. The clams were overly salty almost as though they were on the verge of being bad. Again they did offer to replace it, which we did, but this time with the chicken sandwich, which was much much better. The service was excellent, the food was just okay. You can spend the same and get much higher quality food elsewhere on the spit."

"Food was amazing, service was great. We tipped both the waiter and the drinks lady well because they were both so efficient. Try the seafood Mac and cheese and the Halibut Tacos. The King Crabbon was hardly expensive, Bit they are so expensive to buy for the restaurant that you can find out why they need to calculate so much. It was pricy, but delicious! The restaurant was so clean and also the toilets."
