What M D doesn't like about Highway Inn at Kakaako:
Friendliest staff. Really loved them all. Went for breakfast and found the omelets very, very greasy. Coffee and OJ were great. I look forward to trying lunch here though as I think the Hawaiian specialties are more what they're well known for. View all feedback. What Victor Y likes about Highway Inn at Kakaako:
Overall, the food tasted very good. Kalua pig was very flavourful and I highly recommend pipikaula (beef) as well which was my favourite. I thought Poi was also well made and it went well with the rest of the dishes. I recall eating Poi several years ago at another location, which was not as good. View all feedback.

Not a fan of Hawaiian food, but we came near closing and received good service and the food came out pretty quickly.
I came here with my BFF to get some dinner after we did a little shopping for Christmas gifts.
Highway Inn in Waikiki is a quaint diner serving traditional Hawaiian food.

The Hawaiian Sampler provides a taste of all the traditional dishes, while the Mochiko Chicken is a standout favorite. Although there were some complaints about wait times and service, most guests enjoyed the food and the overall experience. Food was average and somewhat bland. Will only let you split a large group into 4 tickets and didn't tell us there was an 18% service charge for a large group.
This is exactly where you need to go for some true Hawaiian flare. Kind staff, and excellent food all the way around. If you like a drink, for brunch or feeling...
