The gardens are free and are great in many respects but very few people pay the reasonable fee to tour the house which is really worth doing. There is a introductory video and a free audio guide which is worthwhile. The ground floor is rather sparse but has quite a few points of interest but it is the first floor that is surprisingly sumptuous. The house is small so 45 minutes to an hour maybe. What wiltingbas doesn't like about Cafe At Chiswick House:
The grounds of Chiswick House are splendid but the cafe is not for everyone. Located by the playground it is noisy and was filled with screaming children during my visits. View all feedback.
We have been coming to this lovely cafe for the past 5 years. We love it, but as of late, the pigeons are spoiling what was always a pleasant visit. They are jumping on tables to steal peoples food outside, and today are flying about the inside of the cafe. If nothing is done about this, I’m afraid we will not be visiting the cafe again, as it is a health hazard and a nuisance .
Excellent cafe in Chiswick House grounds. Does wonderful coffee and pastries (fresh) . If your walking your dogs, they are welcome. Bathrooms are clean and tidy. They also do breakfasts, luncheon etc..
Amazing atmosphere, full of happy diners! Our group had burgers, salads, pizza nothing but positive feedback all round!
First of all the kitchen was closed. I had checked the website before visiting no mention of that fact. We did manage to get sandwiches. We sat inside. If you like pigeons walking around your feet, flying over you and wandering over the tables plus barking dogs (who also like chasing the pigeons) then this is the place for you. But not for us. Why they couldn't close the door to at least stop the pigeons I don't know. Food was OK but not cheap.
The staff here are completely charmless and sullen, monosyllabic and borderline rude, and they don’t accept cash … we won’t be returning …
