"Our waitress has worked here for 28 years. Must have staying power if in business this long. Typical Chinese and other Asian dishes. On the night we dined, everywhere else was closed, so by default we dined here. Not much atmosphere, just basic Chinese food. Enjoyed it."

"Canada 2 For 1 pizza is something of a modest Canadian food symbol. The franchise has grown since 1989 to one of the largest pizza chains in Western Canada. They may be best known to offer regular and special pizzas at a very modest price –...for those of us working on a budget – and for their “pizza by the disk” in all places. I remember visiting the BC site often as a young boy with the family. As I remember, the special Canadian 2 For 1 offered comfort because it was just a few minutes walk from our hotel. Unfortunately, the terrace has closed at the end of last year. Now the location in Houston is the “northern” in northwest BC. The Houston Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza is located in the Houston Food Market together with another Canadian icon, Mr. Sub. Who can resist such a dynamic combination? If you see the “Mr. Sub” and “Canadian 2 For 1” banners next to each other, you can’t help but smile. Both, I feel, are underestimated and underestimated for less superior brands (Subway, anyone? . That said I stopped at this Canadian 2 for 1 (and Mr. Sub location, while through the city. I have a sub of Mr. Sub and, more important for this review, a piece of pepperoni pizza from Canada 2 For 1. I will not lie and say it was the best pizza ever – because it was not; but I will say it was fresh and definitely above the food dish tariff. And you also get good value for money on the “by the disc” pizzas. My piece of pizza was about $3.75, the IS excellent value if you think that my “snell” was almost the equivalent of half a small pizza, so if someone says it’s “excellent pizza, for a steep price”, I asked myself what they’re talking about. You can't be much better than almost half a small pizza for under $5. It was very easy on the wallet. FOOD: 3/5 SERVICE: 4.75/5 VALUE: 5/5 RECOMMENDATION: Admitted, my visit at this point was partly nostalgia (back in times when I was a child and partly because I like to support Canadian restaurants, especially if they are of good quality. My pizza wasn't disappointed. The Houston Food Market offers as a whole some excellent “Quick-Essen” for the traveler on the go. I give this place an additional star just because it unites two of my favorite chains in a single place. Up and recommended!"
