the first time we have been around 5 years in canton chef. we decided to have a very busy Saturday evening with all the tables full and a very busy service. this we had a wonderful experience with great service with a smile and nice eating. even had a nice conversation with the owner at the end. we'll be back. Mediocre Chinese food at best, they also need to reconsider their price point. They seek to charge £68 for a duck and pancakes in a small village, which is a shocking amount. Even takeaways/restaurants in cities do not charge as high for that dish. We settled for half a duck at still an extortionate £35, and it was just okay but came with inadequate pancakes and sundries. "Dixons used to be amazing with great value for money and the best ice cream around but recently it just get worse each time. Went yesterday. Ice cream was so sloppy it was more the consistency of a milkshake. I asked for cream on top and it was again sloppy and made me feel ill so I ended up leaving it. I told the woman serving the ice cream was very runny and she just shrugged it off. I’d like to say it could be a one off but I’d gone to the swan lane Dixons as the Leeds Road one is always melting ice cream and rude servers but swan lane was no better. The best I would say is the one down in Batley but this is hit and miss on what theirs is like which makes me think the company just doesn’t really care anymore. I discovered Dixons in my uni days and since have come back to Huddersfield at least once a month with family to introduce them to it but I think now it’s time to stop. Each year they make the cones and tubs smaller and the price goes up. Save yourself £5 and just get a McFlurry."
