Great place for a quick bite to eat for a run from Montreal to Ottawa. Clean with friendly staff and fast service. Clean washrooms.

"Just stopped in on our way back to Ontario for lunch. What an absolutely charming establishment! We ate lunch on the terasse (patio), and started off with two Bloody Caesar’s which were well made. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was delicious (big fat shrimp and homemade cocktail sauce) as was the tomato bocconcini salad. I ordered the fish chips for a main and my husband ordered the butterfly shrimp plate. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The batter on my fish was the best I’ve ever had, so light with the perfect crispness, with homemade tartar sauce and the fries are definitely cut in-house too. My husbands butterfly shrimp were cooked to perfection. Sitting in that garden-style patio on a beautiful day had us feeling like we were somewhere on a romantic vacation. Keep doing what you’re doing Mon Village! We’ll be back!"

"Beware from the cashiers, they tend to sell you bigger sizes than your request. Unfortunately, I realized after I got my order !!I requested 3 small cones, and the cashier charged me for the price of 2 sizes bigger!!!Of course, I will not go again to this branch"

"Very cute restaurant with great food. Unfortunately, they need to do a lot of work on their customer service. Abrupt short greeting, almost seemed to be a bother when we asked to be seated. Sat at the table for a while before someone came to table to take order and ended up being about 4 minutes after breakfast time closed, waitress said sorry only lunch available now (even though we had been sitting and in the cafe for about 5-10 minutes. Not accommodating and poor customer service. Similar to other reviews I read. It’s a shame because the cafe is cute and food is good, but really does put a downer to your meal when customer service is poor at best."

"An absolutely gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing and service exceptional. I had the table d'hote which consisted of the house salad, halibut main and dessert. The halibut was perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the lemon poppy seed almond flour cake with Blueberry coulis. Omg this was just so decadent and not overly sweet. My husband had the sweet potato soup and the salmon. He also enjoyed his meal very much. Our server was very pleasant and friendly. My husband loves history so got into talking about the history of the building the restaurant is housed in and our server, being ever so friendly, took the time to chat with us about the house. We had a wonderful evening at would definitely visit the restaurant again. Thank you for a great experience Bistro 1843."
