"Very cute restaurant with great food. Unfortunately, they need to do a lot of work on their customer service. Abrupt short greeting, almost seemed to be a bother when we asked to be seated. Sat at the table for a while before someone came to table to take order and ended up being about 4 minutes after breakfast time closed, waitress said sorry only lunch available now (even though we had been sitting and in the cafe for about 5-10 minutes. Not accommodating and poor customer service. Similar to other reviews I read. It’s a shame because the cafe is cute and food is good, but really does put a downer to your meal when customer service is poor at best."

"We had a wonderful dinner here last weekend. We sat on the patio listening to great live music while we ate. It has such a relaxing atmosphere with great food and drinks. We had a keylime martini, the shrimp and dumplings for appetizers,they were all delicious! Then the Southwest Chicken and Braised beef sandwich, also amazing!! They have a wonderful staff who seem to know when you need them but they don't hover. We can't wait to go back and maybe sit inside next time the decor is beautiful."

"An absolutely gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing and service exceptional. I had the table d'hote which consisted of the house salad, halibut main and dessert. The halibut was perfectly cooked. For dessert I had the lemon poppy seed almond flour cake with Blueberry coulis. Omg this was just so decadent and not overly sweet. My husband had the sweet potato soup and the salmon. He also enjoyed his meal very much. Our server was very pleasant and friendly. My husband loves history so got into talking about the history of the building the restaurant is housed in and our server, being ever so friendly, took the time to chat with us about the house. We had a wonderful evening at would definitely visit the restaurant again. Thank you for a great experience Bistro 1843."

"I used to love to eat here, ingredients were always fresh, the food was delicious, the portions fair and the prices correct for quality and quantity, I find it is now overpriced, quality and taste are no longer present, and portions have been halved, even...worst if you order take out. The last few times it has been quite disappointing. Used to love going to eat here or pick up on the way home, now not so much."
