Huntly Bakery

Have to give this place a mention because I passed through this morning on the way to Auckland and they do the most amazing fish/seafood pie!! I wasn't expecting much, I mean it's Huntly after all. But this pie was just phenomenal! Big chunks of mussels and other delicious seafood in there. This seemed more like something you'd get at a gourmet bakery than at this nondescript little establishment in a town everyone tends to accelerate through. Perhaps a touch heavy on the chicken stock (or whatever it was seasoned with), but other than that, I found myself savouring the meal where I'd expected nothing more than a hurried snack devoured mindlessly on the go. I also bought a chicken roll for later, haven't tried it yet but it looks delicious, a big whopping sandwich, generously filled, on crusty French bread. Just $4.50! I was tempted by the fried chicken in their cabinet, it looked succulent and delicious, but it would've been too heavy a meal on this sweltering day. Staff were very friendly and chipper. Never thought I'd say this, but I think I just discovered a reason to visit Huntly! :D

Very efficient service, the filled rolls were delicious, the pies were tasty drinks were cold. Great experience.
