What Toby R likes about Tacos Jalisco:
I was in Independence recently just in time for the fires and COVID. I spent the day hiking in the Ancient Bristlecone Forest and returned to Indy starved for good food. Nothing was open except for the food truck down the street from the hotel I was staying at. Didn't want to drive the 30 minutes to Lone Pine so I took a chance. I'm not a fan of the truck scene per se but the managers at my hotel raved about its food... View all feedback.

What Peakbagger doesn't like about Tacos Jalisco:
This taco wagon is located in the quaint and quiet little town of Independence and is one of the few places in town to eat. The name has changed to Glenn’s Tacos. It is open Monday thru Friday from 11:00AM to 8:00PM. The food is typical taco wagon fare at reasonable prices for the area. Tonight I tried a chicken torta (see photo). In the past year I have tried a chicken quesadilla and a carne asada burrito. They were... View all feedback.

I was hungry after hiking in Bishop and as I passed through Independence, I ran into this taco truck. I was pleasantly surprised by their food! We tried a carne...

"A touch of France. The Still Life Cafe is in independence, not Big Pine....and never opened in Bishop. We often try to organize our trips to Mammoth so we can stop at Still Life for dinner... we like it so much! You will enjoy your experience much more when you leave your HURRY at the door. The owner, she is the cook and he is the waiting staff and sommelier, transplanted into the Owens Valley from France, over LA, many years ago and they brought the French culinary setting! Relax and enjoy Milikas EXCELLENT FOOD with a bottle of wine that Michelle will recommend. Our personal favs are the fillet Mignon or spaghetti Bolognese, which has been placed on the menu due to the abundance of fresh cans tomatoes from their garden. They won't be disappointed."

"When the manger tells the new employee that he didn't put nearly enough meat in the sandwich after it was run up right in front of the customer (me) I expect the sandwich to be re done and made correctly instead of proceeding to finish it and get me out the door. Also, please ask for payment while I'm not in the middle of explaining my sandwich to the employee. Hurrying to pay while the other is waiting on me. Terrible service and what looked to be the manager was extremely rude."

"The guy that made our sandwiches (6 of them) took his time ensuring each one was not only made correctly, but a masterpiece! The establishment was very clean, the food was fresh, what else could you ask for on a quick stop for lunch while passing though on a road trip. The only negative was the fountain drink machine wasn't working at the time we where there. The view outside while enjoying our food was great!"
