If I could give the people five stars I would give them ten stars. The service is great. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Stanley was our host and he was excellent. If I could give the people five stars, I would give them ten stars. The service is excellent. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. Stanley was our server and he was outstanding. The service was very quick and exceptional in every way. However, the food was not good. I would rate it two and a half stars. The roasted broccoli was essentially just broccoli with cheese. It was mediocre at best. The restaurant was very busy. The ambiance was lovely with live blues music, but if you come for dinner you may be disappointed. The restaurant could use a thorough cleaning as the plates had leftover food from previous guests. When we asked for new plates, they were returned to us in the same dirty state.
This downtown Jackson restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind! The menu is excellent and the atmosphere is fantastic. There are plenty of seats on both the upper and lower floors, as well as a nice outdoor area. They have two bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. The music is great, although it can be a bit loud. Despite being very busy when I left, we still received our food and drinks in a timely manner. I highly recommend checking out this place at least once!
I had the ?Stuffed Delta Catfish? which on paper sounds like delicious dish. But the execution of the actual meal was lackluster at best. The fried okra was really good, nice crispy fry and decent sized okra pieces. Mac and cheese was under-seasoned, it was cold on arrival so the cheese was congealed. The dinner roll itself was decent, especially with the honey butter that came on the side. Catfish itself was okay the batter could have been crispier, especially with a sauce on top that made the catfish batter soggy. The crabmeat filling that was inside was okay, could have been more seasoned. It also was all stacked in the middle, instead of evenly spread out through the catfish. The lemon dill sauce didn?t taste like anything, I had to squeeze fresh lemon on top to get any lemon flavor in my dish. The service was wonderful our server Marsha treated us so well and kindly. Overall the experience was okay, but for the price you pay it?s simply not worth it.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! Our server was wonderful and shared the history of the establishment with us. The shrimp and grits were absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to discover there was a small museum on the upper floor of the restaurant. I hadn't realized we were in Mississippi. Additionally, they offer live music which added to the overall ambiance. I highly recommend this spot for a great dining experience.
Visit the Jackson State orientation and this is the only beautiful restaurant there. And the food was great. The egg roll and ribs, salmon and the big juicy pig stall was sooooo good. I was happy I stopped before I left.
