"Our New Year Dinner (adults and children from Kaitafors, Norrgard and Sidahmed families) at Ludwig Steakhouse /Stadshotellet immediately followed the first and very successful fireworks of Jakobstad/ Pietrasaari. The fireworks ended 19:30 four hours before midnight which is understandable in a region where the sun sets at 14:30! As the name goes the restaurant is famous for its fine USA Black Angus sirloin steak which most of us ordered and were happy to experience. Also some of us were comfortable with the frequent G,L signs ! Two of us with extensive lamb experience in the Italian, Spanish and Middle east restaurants decided after a bit of hesitation and consultation with the Chef to take the chance and order the 300 grilled rack of lamb with mint jelly, black quarant sauce and garlic potatoes. It was a fabulous and abundant experience that went very well with the red Ironstone Zinfandel from Lodi California. The 14.5% vol was hinted with a smile as the norm with the wines imported to Finland; and so was the note about the very limited choice of wines and desserts in Finnish restaurants ! Reception, organization and seating were very cordial and pleasant."
