Thoroughly enjoyed eating at the Adler on my recent trip. Excellent menu, ample portions and very professional and friendly staff. What’s not to like!

"A great place to have a picnic by a beautiful lake. Be warned that the right side of the lake is where all the BBQ happen and that there is barely any grass to sit. If you dont want to have a BBQ, go to the left side where all the grass is. Also, there is a nice 30 minute hike up on a very steep hill for an oversea of the lake among the mountains."

"Because of the famous sunset, we decided to reserve a hotel room with half board. We received a reservation confirmation specially written by the hotel with a reservation for a table for two on the terrace. We received a very friendly welcome at the hotel. In the restaurant, despite making a reservation for 7 p.m., we had to queue for 20 minutes and wait for service . There were simply not enough staff for service and operation at the counter. When the friendly staff finally found time for us, all the tables on the terrace were occupied. The reservation specialist consulted with the boss, who explained in a very unfriendly and loud tone from the kitchen in front of all the other guests that we had not made a reservation. Afterwards we had to wait in line for another 15 minutes to ask again where we could sit. Because the sun was setting, we sat on the ground to admire the great spectacle. After the sinking we are back at the counters. We were able to bring our concerns to the same friendly restoration specialist. He immediately looked at where we could sit. The dinner was very tasty, the chef is really good at his craft! What was very disappointing for us was that the boss didn 't seek conversation or apologize directly to us. We could have then shown her the written reservation confirmation directly. At this point we didn 't feel like we were being taken seriously or understood as guests mistakes can happen, but then you should be able to accept them and look for a solution... After dinner we went to the room and were a little surprised at how outdated and dingy the rooms were (carpet, old curtains, bedside lamp always flickering, etc. . The cleanliness also left a lot to be desired (dead insects in curtains everywhere on the floor, lots of cobwebs everywhere and lots of dust on the bedside tables . However, the bed and bathroom were clean and the shower worked perfectly. The breakfast the next morning was very balanced and delicious. You could get tea and coffee, there was muesli, croissants, bread and plaited bread as well as cheese, bacon and various spreads to enjoy. When we checked out we were given a friendly farewell and as an apology we received a small gift as compensation. All in all, we would come again for a meal and the great view. We probably wouldn 't book an overnight stay at Meielisalp again."
