Oktave - Karlsruhe

Sweet cafe style restaurant with labeled vegan options. it tastes good, but the curry was very thin. it is quite crowded and does not feel very nice to sit there.

My wife and I have been here times as a couple and also with company. I've taken their feedback into account. The outdoor seating area in a quiet courtyard behind the church is absolute great. Our first time here was after a long walk...on a day and the courtyard was a blessing. Service is excellent, especially the young man Phillip? that help us with our less than perfect German, explaining the menu and helping with cocktails. On to the food. The appetizer plate for two is great, however I can only give so much credit for an assembled appetizer. The menu is is divided into vegetarian, rice and pasta dishes, plus of course daily specials although I've seen the same specials for several weeks,that IMO isn't good. The food is creative and tasty. I judge a place by the octopus, and though not the most tender, it has been really good. I do feel the sauces are very thin, even with rice to sop the sauce up, I'd like a sauce thicker too,too watery. Tortellini isn't homemade, but who does that in Karlsruhe? Only downer is the wine list is very pricy. Cocktails are good and I'm getting used a lack of booze in cocktails here in Germany, and Oktave is no exception. Need to order a shot to get it up to what I'm used to. OK, I'm a harsh critic and like I said, we've been here times, it's become one of our regular places in the OstStadt. Well worth repeated visits

Love coming here. They have the best salads in town. My friends and I come here regularly and always enjoy our visit. It's especially great in summer when we can sit outside
