This was a pretty odd experience - we got here kind of late after hiking Wineglass Bay.

This restaurant is over ratedThere was on TV show several years ago but I think that original Japanes owner sold this restaurant to someone.

"The food was good and flavoursome. We were glad we stopped by here to have our dinner and we would definitely be back again if we are going past this part of Tasmania. The staff were great and plenty of options go drinks from the tap. Had a great meal here, thanks!"

"I went straight to the vegan burger with chips. Their house made patty had just the right of spice and it was refreshing not to get an out of the packet patty."

"Great place on the water. we were in september and had the holiday home at sea. perfect for families with bunk beds and fire. a pretty little house just a stone's throw away from the water. the restaurant is great and they even welcomed our children to dinner. coffee best in the opposite would have liked to spend more time with the pool and tennis courts and kajaks had allowed weather. we made a day trip to freycinet and bicheno. a bit drive, but there is not much between so no other options really."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our oyster tour at Melshell Oyster Shack. The lovely Cass talked us through the harvesting process, and the price of the tour also included a drink of your choice and a half dozen oysters. We were also shown the best way to shuck an oyster and even had a go at shucking one ourselves! Highly recommend it. There was a fire at Dolphin Sands the day we originally had booked in, so a big thanks to Cass for rescheduling and fitting us in the following day at a time that suited us. It was also great news to hear that everyone at Dolphin Sands is now safe. Thank you!"

"Had lunch here recently when staying in Bicheno. We were there with kids and two of us were vegetarians. There were not really any decent options. One of us had a goats cheese tart that was just two pastry cases stuffed with a LOT of goats cheese and topped with pickled walnuts or sun dried tomatoes. It was far too salty and rich; quite difficult to eat. The octopus was OK but would arguably have been improved by taking away the pesto. Prawns were good but everything was pretty light on. Not sure whether the food is meant to be 'tapas style' but these were not really substantial main meals. I get that they are trying to run a business that is very seasonal and the idea is a good one, but a bit more for your money (either in quantity or quality) would make this much better."
