"It is with heavy heart that I actually write this report - we holiday @ South West Rocks every year & for the past couple of years we actually make a point of coming out to Gladstone for the day to enjoy the surroundings as well as having lunch/dinner at this beautiful Hotel. The last 2 years we have been deeply disappointed with the service of the restaurant - they always run out of their "specials". This year we asked what time does the restaurant/bistro close - 2.00pm - so us ladies went out for some boutique shopping - returned just after 12.00 but the CLOSED sign was put up for food orders @ 1.15pm! However after some persuasion we were able to order a couple of "dips" which were overpriced - it was inconvenient time as it was pouring rain & we were unable to go another establishment to order some lunch. Very disappointed we will not be making the trip out next year."

"It's clean. Products well presented. Appropriate employees who are efficient and pleasant. Nice to see the smiling faces. We tried apple sales, cakes, sausage rolls and carrot cake. All right. The carrot cake should die. Parking in front of the front, but can be a problem because West Kempsey needs more parking."

"Owner is a misogynist! My wife and I walked in at 5:30pm to an empty venue and asked if we could please have a drink. The owner was in the courtyard on our arrival and made no attempt to greet us. We thought we could have a cocktail or a beer before dinner as it states it is a ‘Bar and Restaurant’. He (the owner)showed utter contempt towards his wait staff (and she was lovely) and condescendingly told them that they were ‘fully booked and we are a restaurant’ in a sarcastic tone.Not sure why he couldn’t have said this to us as he was standing next to the wait person? His attitude and demeanour was disgusting and we would definitely not recommend! The whole situation was extremely awkward and considering the venue was completely empty we couldn’t understand his rudeness and passive aggression. Try and be kind and friendly. Do better!"
