We all enjoyed our dining at Hurricane the evening before Thanksgiving. Oysters all around to start, well prepped, no shell bits to spoil the serving. Wide variety of meals to chose from and that was reflected in our choices; lobster Cobb salad (YUM! , butternut ravioli, duck breast and mussels…everyone was happy! Decent bourbon list. Deserts were the bomb! Noise level does rise as the number of diners grows, so it d... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Hurricane:
The atmosphere at Hurricane is very pleasant. Service was good. The hostess was cheerful and friendly. Our waiter was efficient. Our food was very good though I must say, three of our four entrees were not hot, my partner said his shrimp dish was down right cold in some places? Two of us had duck which was extremely tasty however it was just barely warm. Not sure why this happened …. That being said, I will definitel... View all feedback.
Excellent server and the house manhattan was outstanding (but old-fashion was not with muddled orange and cherry a perversion of the recipe). Food was very good; highlight was the lobster chowder and the bread and olive oil. The charcuterie plate was just OK with a block of Gouda that should be sliced and not much meat. My wife enjoyed her mussels but big chunks of grilled bread would’ve been better served in smaller portions. Overall, it was quite good and our friendly and efficient server made it a memorable night.
It was very loud, however the food was delicious! And the server was very attentive.
This is probably the most consistent quality dining experience in KPT. We’ve never had a bad meal at Hurricane. Everyone can find something to please them on the menu, and the view is beautiful. Staff is friendly and truly give their best efforts. My favorite is the Baked Stuffed Lobster, but the Pork Chop, Shrimp Fettuccine , Steak and Onion Soup, all get honorable mentions. We live here and never tire of the offerings.
Best meal we had. Great table- had a booth . Great oysters and lobster. Perfect Martini
Currently the consistently best food in the Port. Best bread in the Kennebunks hands down. “Duck two Ways” was amazing. The pork chop is always good (although looking forward to them mixing up the sides again… previously had more complementary flavors). When they have it, the short rib is another go-to dish. And though it seems odd just getting chicken at a nice restaurant, their chicken dish over rossoto is SO good. They had the best strawberry shortcake I had ever had in my life when they made it with a warm biscuit; but unfortunately are back to a more mediocre recipe as of this review. The bread pudding (depending on the flavor combo) is another excellent choice.
