Had the privilege to have dinner here for Valentines this month. We were staying at the Villa and were lucky enough to snag a table. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly each, a rose and chocolates. The meal was one of the best we've had in a long time. The service was smooth and discrete and we were serenaded by a very talented singer and pianist. Was a really memorable meal. Highly recommend. telephoned to get a reservation for our high time jubilee / birthday got a strange electronic message so that my details leave but never get an answer so that I thought they are out of the business. View all feedback.
During our stay at Villa Howden, my partner and I enjoyed Bruni's on two occasions - for breakfast (included with our stay) and for dinner on Saturday night. The breakfast was a great way to start the day and a big step up on typical hotel buffet breakfasts. We had the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon (and my partner asked for eggs on top of that, I'm not sure about the combination, but she really enjoyed it!). I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which was well cooked and full of flavour. Tasty coffee and juices too!The dinner was excellent. We were well looked after by the staff and felt like it was a very enjoyable, peaceful dinner experience. The atmosphere in Villa Howden in general, and Bruni's, is great, with some lovely architecture and furnishings. We started with the seafood chowder (so hearty and warm, great for winter!) and the quail, which was tender and delicate. Our mains were lamb and pork belly. The lamb was lovely, but the pork belly was the standout...and absolutely massive! We were stuffed, so just enjoyed our wine and skipped dinner. Maybe next time!Highly recommended if you are in the area, and especially if you are spending a night at Villa Howden.

Dinner while it was still daylight (daylight saving!) in a beautiful room, hushed and yet not oppressively so, with a beautiful outlook to the terrace and garden beyond - what a great evening. I give it full marks for atmosphere and ambience. This was assisted by the wonderful staff, who were attentive but not overwhelming or 'false'. The complimentary amuse bouche was excellent, as were our meals. Delicious pork, fish, scallops. The only negatives - the lamb came as cutlets and the fat was thick and inedilble. My friend had it and was disappointed, as it looked like the fat needed to be further rendered to make it edible. This same friend requires gluten free foods, and although grateful for the provision of gluten-free bread, these days there are much more palatable GF breads available than the solid, white, cardboard slices of days gone by. The side dishes of new potatoes and green beens with roasted hazelnuts were fantastic. Yes, the anchovies were missing from the green bean dish, but who cares? The were delicious. Sadly the espresso machine was broken, so we had to forego our longed-for affogatos!
We ate here when staying at Villa Howden The staff are first class. ...almost old fashioned in the way on which they look after you The menu is limited but superb local produce well cooked and presented beautifully The bouche amusee was a nice touch I can thoroughly recommend
A Seafood chowder that has set the bar high for the following eye fillet and it did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection. Thanks to a top quality Tassie beef and served with superb professional and fun staff
