The Durham - Kingston

I spent three nights in Canberra and visited this restaurant every evening for drinks and snacks. It felt like a little piece of the UK in a authentic bar setting. I enjoyed some delicious dark beers, including Tennents Stout on tap. It was so good that it brought a tear to my eye and I didn't want to leave. It was truly one of the best beers I've ever had. I'm so sad to be leaving Canberra and I hope they open a similar bar in Brisbane.

Caught in a sudden rain shower, we sought shelter at The Durham, a restaurant that had caught our eye earlier with its inviting ambiance. The English-inspired decor matched the weather perfectly. They offered a great selection of beers on tap and an intriguing selection of wines. We had a pleasant, leisurely drink while the rain poured outside. Although the menu looked enticing, we had already made reservations elsewhere. Perhaps next time we will have the opportunity to dine there.

My husband and I had been working hard all day and were looking for a simple and affordable dinner option. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Durham's menu had been changed to offer a variety of tasty options. I decided to order the salmon poke bowl while my husband went for the steak. I made a booking online easily and discovered that early dinners come with a 10% discount. When we arrived, we found out that one of the daily specials was a delicious Rogan Josh. The combination of my salmon poke bowl and the Rogan Josh was a delight. The rice was fluffy, the tzatziki had a perfect balance of garlic and cucumber, the naan was light and fluffy, and the Rogan Josh was velvety with a rich flavor. The meat was tender and flavorful without being fatty. Thank you to the new chef at the Durham for an amazing meal. The staff was welcoming and attentive. I hope the consistency in quality and value remains the same for future visits. We had a great dining experience at the Durham.

We haven’t had service like this for a long time. Our server was really attentive, when there was a small issue with our food it was replaced immediately with much apologies and offers of additional drinks and food the burger was under done). Other staff members asked continually if we needed anything. When we were paying we even got a recommendation for brekkie. A great place with great food and fantastic service. Thanks to the team at Durham. Almost forgot, the beer paddle was terrific and great value.

The photos looked very inviting but didn't deliver. We waited a very long time for our meals and then one meal was incorrect. So 3 of us had finished our meals before the 4 th person received their correct meal. Prices were okay. Maybe we caught them on a bad night?
