"A fabulous atmosphere, wonderful and attentive staff. in the reception area, which was perfect after a long trip, served prelunch drinks. elterns had a great roast beef dinner; cooked to perfection, with beautiful grooms. I had the fish cake I was sad that I didn't feel hungry enough to finish. the fish cake was packed with whole pieces of large fish and huge garnels. mash to hit my grandmother (by knaresborough) fishcake. that was my first visit to the general; the family has eaten and stayed here. my elders finished with sticky toffee powder and shared it. the first glass chardonnay I had was easy, the second was creamy. I would have appreciated the advice on the change. the personal was so wonderfully individual in their approach. it made the sometimes stuffed approach of derbyshire restaurants/pubs so relaxing. the general tarleton should be regarded as a real local and regional institution. food, service, atmosphere, everything is perfect."

"High above jo jo maman bebe. excellent service and a good selection of tapas dishes. my partner and I chose to eat from the tapas menu instead of the main menu of the full-fledged dishes, so can not comment, but the tapas was beautiful. many vegetarian options (caric mushrooms were great we had four tapas each, which were a good amount of food, but I wouldn't say we were absolutely filled."

"Love this pub! The food is homemade and is always delicious, the staff are always friendly and the prices are reasonable. The pub itself is very welcoming and has a great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area"
