The best time to visit is straight at 5pm when restaurant opens. You stay out of the crowd, no waiting and all food available. Otherwise I can't imagine how people fit in such a small buffet area trying to serve themselves. Variety of food is great, all meat we tried (beef, reindeer, salmon, chicken was very tasty.
