Reviewers mention dry ribs and unimpressive Chinese food, but also highlight the friendly staff and standout dishes like the Cookie Monster Cheesecake. Despite mixed experiences, many customers enjoyed their meals and appreciated the atmosphere at The Cow Restaurant, making it a top choice for delicious food in Cowichan.
Driving from Port Renfrew to Duncan, made a stop at the Cow Cafe for a bite to eat/rest. Welcoming, good food, your four legged furry friends are welcome on the two outside patios. Was a nice change from Tim Hortons.
This was by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had! We made it very clear that three of us had severe allergies and ordered specifically and clearly to ensure our safety. The server seemed to understand and took our orders. When the food came it had two of the items we specifically said we could not eat. When we returned the food and politely explained we were informed that they could remake it correctly but we would have to pay for the botched meals as well as the new ones! I asked to speak with the manager and a larger set man came out and informed me he was the owner. He then proceeded to raise his voice and swear in front of our three children. He was unbelievably rude and insisted we pay for the meals they made incorrectly. It was an unbelievably horrible experience and we will never return!
Disappointed in some of the dishes. Beef burrito had 99% rice, 1% beef. Chinese buffet was awful. Wait staff seems stressed, not too friendly.
We don't eat out often, but have been to this restaurant on some special occasions and found the food and service quite good.
Always love going to the Cow Cafe. Food is always great, nice to run into friends there and grab a bite to est.
