The Great American Steak Burger is on the edge of town and by the Picacho Hills Country Club. It's best to go during sunset when the Organ Mountains' are in full display and not hidden from its own shadow. The restaurant is small and intimate. It's a sports bar restaurant. I liked their beer battered chicken fish combo. I enjoyed the mountain views and it was worth the drive from the other part of town. View all feedback.
What Matthew L doesn't like about Great American Steak Burger:
Just tried to have dinner there. Looked up the closing time here on Yelp it said 9 pm. We got there at 8 pm and the front door was locked. The hours painted on the door read Thursday Saturday 11 am 9 pm There were customers inside but the front door was locked. We tried it several times, customers at the bar saw us, the server at the bar saw us and completely ignored us. We drove out to this place to try it for the f... View all feedback.
A lot has changed about this restaurant in the couple months since we first ate here. The first time we were impressed with the quality of the steak, homemade beans, fresh bread, etc. But, sadly the quality of the food was much worse this time. The steak was one on those thin, tenderized, super salty things. There is no way to cook such a cheap piece of meat properly, which is why it is loaded with salt. The beans sure seem like they came out of a can, perhaps with the addition of a little more seasoning. The baked potato and bread were both old and hard. They no longer have blue cheese dressing. It all seemed like the tale tell signs of a restaurant on its last gasp. We probably won't be back. On the rare occasion I want to eat a steak, want to be assured I am getting high quality flavorful meat cooked properly. I give it the two stars because the waiter was very nice.

This place is way off the beaten path and to take the time to drive out there and then be locked out and ignored prior to the posted closing time is beyond rude. I will never give this place my business and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointing.
Was excited for GASB to take a try at a location where so many priors had failed. Living in the Picacho Hills neighborhood, we were regulars probably spending $100-$150 a month dining at GASB. Until October 2017 when we cashed in a $60 gift certificate that an in-law had bought for us. We feasted and our bill was $54. I wanted to use the leftover $6 to add to the gratuity and leave the terrific server an extra big tip. But the Manager said the leftover amount could not be used for gratuity. I then asked to keep the remaining $6 for a credit for our next dining visit. The Manager said no and to order dessert. I told the Manager, as rudely as possible, that we did not want dessert and that he should treasure the $6 because it is the last that we will ever spend at GASB. Driving by the restaurant most every day, it is clear that it is struggling. Godspeed and let's try a quality establishment next!
We had an exceptional dining experience at Great American Steakburger. The restaurant was set up for several large parties and there were no open tables. The manager went out of his way to accommodate us by moving a table in from the patio for us. Our waiter was personable and attentive even after the large parties arrived. We all had steaks which were perfectly cooked. It was a delightful evening. We will be back.
Here it is Friday no French fries, no onion rings, unbelievable this type of service. Tables not clean...and they want you to sit there. Really...no management in site..
