"I've been going back and forth for a few weeks, if I should leave an evaluation. the owner of this place is always so friendly and attentive. the baristas are more touch and go. the coffees are not bad, but they never know if they get a friendly barista or barista that just wants to finish with them as fast as possible so that they can talk to their friend or on their handy. there were baristas from the last summer, they were always so friendly and chatty in the best wise. I told my friend that I want to find a new coffee place, but this is the closest to our place, so."

"Wide selection of scotch, knowledgable staff, quiet atmosphere, and generally a good time : I came here to meet a friend and fellow scotch drinker. We hadn't been here before, but were anxious to catch up over a more interesting selection of single malts than you can find at an average bar. We came down the stairs and into the bar from the street like it was some hidden secret. The place was quiet with only a few other groups taking up space on a Wednesday night. We were seating by a friendly hostess, who popped off to get us a scotch connoisseur, after we explained our drinking plans. A nice gentleman came back with a couple different bottles in his hand that we'd never heard of before. We knew we were in the right place when he began to describe the origins and flavors and finishes to us, and we chose a couple different meat glasses to start. No disappointment from us! We had a great evening catching up, and will certainly come back!!"

"What a wonderful place! They stop sitting about 1-2 hours before they close due to the waiting list. eating is phenomenal and worth it! we have set our name on the list (1.5 hours waiting), then went down to the toy shop and shopping around. the cookies and gravy were the best I ever had from a restaurant. so good that I bought from extra order to go so that I would have it the next day. they are also dog friendly on the terrace and provided water and lend. I would make the hour drive from kc again. highly recommended!"

"I tried out J Wilson 's for the first time this last week during a Tuesday evening. What a great place with great value. First, our server, Michael, was extremely attentive (his picture posted to this review). He was extremely knowledgeable not only about the menu, but the wine. What was particularly impressive was how he treated an elderly woman in our party who had erred in how she ordered her steak cooked. AnMichael was super respectful and courteous to make sure she was satisfied. Most servers who have made an excuse. The Salmon and Trout were absolutely TOP SHELF! Probably the best seafood I have had in Lawrence and that includes the Mass Street Fish House. Except that the seafood here is about $5 to $10 less per entree that the high end places on Mass Street. Another wonderful surprise is the number of Gluten Free options on the menu. The GF pasta was a penne pasta and absolutely delicious. They also have two chocolate flourless desserts that are to die for. Lastly, their wine selection is superb. It is not super long, but there are plenty of varieties within each wine category and the prices are quite reasonable. They also offered wines of the day at under $20 in a separate menu and all seemed very high quality which is surprising. These must be sold at almost cost."
