What Zacharie Boulanger doesn't like about Cafe des Sports:
This restaurant/bar was featured in the NYT article that prompted my visit to Gascony. It is an interesting place to observe, especially the server with his horizontally striped shirt and beret, how 'typically' French is that?! View all feedback.
The sports coffee that reminds you of a childhood that you have not known but that you have dreamed. And we eat well and cheap.
Get your wine, coffee and catch up on local affairs. It's the local everyone place. You go here for the locals, not for food necessarily.
The menu of the day is to take the eyes closed. The plates are well trimmed and the service is fast. An excellent bistro cuisine at a top price. We speak all languages here but especially English.
Two lunches during a week in the area ...4 meals therefore , totalling just over 50 Euros inc a bit of wine. 11.5 Eur if I recall for two courses. Good eating ,friendly and helpful staff work like demons to get the orders out to the full house of customers. Super sirloin steak, Gersoise salad ( gesiers de canard etc), nice hake with ratatouile etc , omelette norvegienne .... tasty tasty .... house wine red and pink both good. Atmosphere and buzz....good refuge from a hot day in a big high ceiling bar with old trad fittings. Recommend thoroughly for a not fancy but very decent, great value lunch.
Man what an ambiance on the Monday night market, middle of July, cozyness all around and especially live music! All over the place and sweet peas! So, in this rugby café, warm bite somewhat fat, but good bottom. Slap duck. Enchanted atmosphere and especially rugby. I'll have a law beer.
