On the edge of the canal that surrounds the citadel, this is a simple place with metal tables and chairs outside (it was a glorious autumn day with the sun shining on the huge plain trees in all their colours opposite) where families with small children come for a simple lunch and place to spend time. This is a 'guinguette ', a terrace on the riverside with accordeon music and popular ambiance: kids welcome, lovers dancers of all ages enjoy the get-together. This brings joy to a rather sad area, the view on the Belgian riverside is not great. In Wambrechies, the first Guinguette is better situated at the yacht harbor. We had a great dinner and we tried 4 different dishes which were all delicious! The waitress was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend!!!
