This restaurant is what I wish all french restaurants were. Not too fancy, high quality food, and a great team leading the restaurant. We ate here on a whim and even though it was close to closing time there was not a problem at all. The wine selection by the glass is extensive and solid while the beer list looked good, but we really wanted to stick to wine. The eggplant starter was so good, so cheesy, so wonderful i... What spieczynski karine doesn't like about Le Comptoir des Bistronomes:
Too bad we weren't able to taste it, apparently our reservation had not been made for the day we came to Lille, no questioning from the person who took our reservation, given that we were in 2 during the call for the reservation we were sure of ourselves, but we were invited to find a table elsewhere, suffice to say that I did not appreciate this welcome and that despite the recommendations for this restaurant I will... Great food and wine, very pleasant service and ambience, located a bit off the touristy part of the center. Reasonably priced. Book before you go. only minus was that it has no space in the wc to change your baby. Maybe not the priority for everybody but important for families.
The restaurant is located on Rue Pierre Mauroy and is close to Rihour metro station on line one. I arrived at just after seven o’clock for dinner without a reservation and was able to secure a table. The menus are all in French on a blackboard but I was able to translate enough to get by. Smoked fish to start, steak for main and profiterole for dessert. The smoked fish came in a white sauce that included what seemed to be caviar. Very nice in any event. The steak was good too and the single profiterole was huge with almonds, chocolate sauce and cream. To drink, I had Cuba Libre, a glass of red Bergundy, a glass of dessert wine from Cote De Gascogne and an Irish coffee. Service was decent but slowed as the restaurant filled up. The waiter’s English was of similar standard to my French but we managed to communicate OK. The ambience was most enjoyable and the cost of €56 constituted fantastic value bearing in mind the quantity and quality of the food and drink.
Excellent service, nice entrance, great desert and a good glass of wine. the only drawback was the steak - it was not bad but was not up to the rest of the meal. I'd go back there without hesitation because we felt really well cared.
We were lucky to have a last minute reservation in this very busy restaurant on Saturday night. food and atmosphere were excellent, obviously popular with the inhabitants because we seemed to be the only tourists in the restaurant. My unusual pear entrance, the roquefort with the spice bread, was quite delicious and one of the most memorable plates I've ever had. my steak was tender and perfectly cooked and the coffee entrance was delicious. the bill was 170 euros for 4 people, 3 dishes each and 2 bottles of wine - which seemed very reasonable to us. highly recommended.
Nice little bistro with classic dishes from the north of the france. warm and friendly service. excellent food. wines at reasonable prices. the outside looks misleadingly terne but the experience is inside. It's worth the visit.
