What User likes about Tavares:
a culinary institution from the 18th century. portugal's oldest restaurant. today a ten for fine dinning. restaurant with historical wood and mirror panels, white tablecloths. attentive service and French cuisine best. dress code at least business casual . inexpensive menu, good restaurant for a special occasion. we are celebrating our annual day. they surprised us with a beautiful desert plate after dinner. What User doesn't like about Tavares:
Great wine. Service was ok. Room spectacular but weirdly bright and lacking in atmosphere. They had these old school in and out doors to the kitchen which gave it a Fawlty Towers feeling. Can’t see how this can make a ‘beat restaurant’ list unless we’re in the 1980s when this kind of place was seen as upmarket. Definitely needs a refresh. Food was ok but again old school.
