Fabulous lunch! Seafood was superb, from the fritto to the black ink risotto. The local Vermentino wine served was perfect. The locale, though rather small and simple, is clean and the temperature kept cool. The service was attentive and cordial (although English may be limited). Overall, an excellent sampler of Tuscan seafood!
We met our local friends at this restaurant on the last day of our cruise for lunch. It took us a bit to find it as we were dropped off in the main square, however it is very close to the center of town. There were eight of us and there was plenty of room in this comfortable setting. The menu was all in Italian and it is my understanding that our friends just really asked what was fresh and then the food just started coming family style! They do understand English, so I believe those that don't speak Italien would do just fine ordering. First course was fried fish with a side of onions and anchovies we also were served fresh bread and bruschetta. The small fish was served whole and had a spicy flavor that was outstanding! Second Course was a seafood pasta. Linguini with calamari and shrimp in a light olive oil with capers. You could taste the sea!! Next course was black risotto (from squid ink) with squid, this was my favorite and cooked to perfection. Last course was fried fish, calamari and shrimp. This was lightly battered and very fresh. We split 4 bottles of house wine and all this food and drink, between eight of us was less than US $30 per person! Our lunch lasted almost 3 hours and it was so worth it! Highly recommend for those looking for a reasonable, good option in Livorno!
We just happened to be passing this restaurant while walking.... the food was fresh and delicious and the service was excellent...try the seafood, unbelievably good as was the wine... try the local specialties, you can go wrong.......
