"Having just arrived in Livorno, we drove around the Ardenza area looking for a restaurant. As enthusiastic foodies, our goal was a place serving excellent food and patronized by the locals. La Madia attracted us with its modest, untouristy entrance. We stepped into its charming interior and were warmly greeted by Fernando Solito, When our detailed questions strained his English, he summoned chef owner Maria Rosa Chegai who understood our needs. She started us with appetizers 14 different local fish followed by fantastic pastas and entrees.."

"Great place on the terrace overlooking the canal. Food was pleasant and service was friendly. Maybe in the night we were there, but it took about 20-30 minutes to serve our bottle of wine. It all felt a little hectic."

"A tipical but actually original restaurant, and winery, in Livorno. Baccalà (cod) a la Morì is wonderful and you must taste it along with all the other dishes: the menù is full of good proposals and good plates. One of the best gourmet experience in this city."
