Glad we booked as they were queuing up to get in. Very busy at times. Great atmosphere and a good choice of food on the menu. Portion sizes are good and there are meat free options available. Drinks list has many options and reasonable priced wines. Good service kept up to date with what was going on. Must try the crepes with espresso martini cream. View all feedback.
What Joy M doesn't like about CAU Restaurant - Kingston Upon Thames:
Unfortunately despite making a reservation for lunch today, there was no table for us as they were too busy. We were asked to come back in 20 to 30 minutes. We went to Brown's around the corner instead and had a lovely lunch in a friendly restaurant which even had a pianist. Browns was much better, but we were initially disappointed as we have enjoyed eating at Cote in the past and today was a special occasion. View all feedback.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is fantastic and the staff is extremely friendly. A special thank you to Jack for making us feel so welcome.
The service at this restaurant was a bit rushed, possibly due to a busy Friday evening. Our table was the only one without a lit candle throughout our meal. We had to flag down the manager to take our order, as no waiters approached us. No one checked in on the quality of our food. My sirloin steak and fries were served without ketchup or mustard, and the steak itself was thin and lacked any sauce or gravy typical of French-style steak. The side vegetables were minimal and seemingly a cost-saving measure. I had to snack on cookies when I got home due to the undersized meal. The only red wine offered by the glass was a merlot, which was overpriced. Despite these drawbacks, the outdoor seating by the river was enjoyable.
We had a delicious Easter Sunday lunch at this restaurant. We decided to go last minute as we didn't feel like cooking and it was a beautiful day. We sat outside in the sun, which was a great setting. The restaurant is dog-friendly and even brought out a water bowl for our dog without us having to ask. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were very attentive. We were very impressed overall.

We were staying several nights at Kingston upon the Thames and walked along the riverfront one evening looking for someone to have dinner and decided to give Cote a try. It was early dinner, and not too busy. We choose an outside patio table as the weather was decent and had a nice view of the river and people walking by. Our server was fairly new, but did his best to take care of us, sometimes asking for help from others when he was not sure. Overall the service was quite good. We had french onion soup and capers for appetizer. Both tasty and served promptly. For mains we had the Chicken and Salmon, both quite delicious. For dessert the creme brulee and berries with ice cream. Towards the end it was getting quite busy, so I'm glad we went early. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing meal and good value. Definitely recommend it.
