This was our second St John restaurant experience after visiting the Smithfield location and we fell in love with it all over again. There's nothing pretentious in the presentation or atmosphere and the staff where lovely. We'll be back again for some more amazing food and wine. read more.

We ate at St. John in Clerkenwell twenty years ago and couldn't see what it was about. We thought we'd try again as we were in the neighborhood of the Maltby Street branch. We ordered lamb that was so raw that we could not get our knives through them, while we would normally order meat rarely, this was simply unusable, so we had to send it back. "Very well executed food, with influences from all around the world and especially South America. The use of ingredients unusual in Europe, is well balanced, and the dishes are the expression of an elegant and at times quite classic fine-dining approach. The level of food was very high, especially the main dishes, fish and meat, were outstanding. The food deserves the two Michelin starts and the other accolades. In terms of quality/price ratio, probably on the expensive side, but the uniqueness of the food proposal is worth the visit. The area where the restaurant is situated it's not the nicest, the restaurant inside is nice and the atmosphere is good. The service overall was nice, although I would have liked more details and information about the dishes and the inspiration of them from the waiters. The rhythm of the food felt also slightly too fast for my preference, and I didn't always have time to pick the drink for the next dishes because of that, especially if I didn't like the first choice proposed by the sommelier.
