"I would love to give this place 10 Stars if I could! Gareth and Eriko have started something very special in Woodend. From friendly, smiling front of house staff to bang on, おいしい Japanese cuisine which is the best I have had outside of Tokyo, this place ticks all the boxes! "I have been visiting here for many years and love the bread, coffee and food in general. Today I attended a sourdough workshop and cannot recommend it highly enough. The 'mystery ' was taken out of sourdough and I learned so much. We were well fed and watered and left with course notes, a certificate, leaven, flour to feed our leaven, and numerous delicious loaves of bread. It was worth every cent. A thoroughly enjoyable day!"

"@pigandwhistlehotel, Trentham East We had such a fun day checking out these spots as part of Australia's biggest pie tart trail happening in the Macedon Ranges until the 28th of April These are the 3 places we visit and what we tried there: Mushroom Stroganoff Pie @riddellbakery Tiramisu Tart @newhamgeneralstore Guiness Pie @pigandwhistlehotel (featured here) There are 43 different country bakeries, restaurants, pubs or cellar doors to check out and each one of them has entered the trail with a different pie or tart a great activity for this autumn and it's less than an hour away from Melbourne"

"Super sad to review negatively but really didn't have a great meal ordered beef korma, butter chicken and they were really over sweet in taste (actually couldn't eat the korma). Also, the korma only had 6 small beef pieces and was swimming in sauce. The butter chicken was more generous, but still not the standard in other places we have bought from. I think its important to share this so it doesn't continue. The rice and samosa were fine.The staff seem lovely, the website was easy, the prices were ok, so if this could be adjusted then i am sure it would be a great place to eat."

"Venue is inviting and promises a lot but did not deliver on this occasion. Although the steak was cooked to perfection the accompaniments were ordinary. Another meal was tasteless. For the prices we expected a lot better."

"The Cosmo is our local when we come to Trentham. The best thing on the menu are the pizzas from the Woodfire oven. They are only available on weekends so don't miss out if you see it in action ! Surrounded by great pizza places in Melbourne, I only ever look forward to pizzas at The Cosmo. The atmosphere is always friendly (thanks to Rob the owner, with whom we've had many a friendly chat over the years) and warm. We love sitting outdoors in summer, in the beautiful garden. A weekend at the historic Cosmo would be incomplete without a visit to this pub, even if just to have a pint at the bar ! It's a 5 minute walk from our place.
