I visited this place Murgan Idli Shop for my lunch when I was in Madurai. The place was very crowded as it was Sunday but I was able to get a seat. I had Paneer Dosai, Ghee Podi Idli and finished with Madurai special Jigarthanda. The idlis were soaked very well in ghee and were very soft. Podi Masala and chutneys enhanced the taste. I really liked the Dosai and power packed flavors of paneer in it. Jigarthanda is a m... View all feedback.
What majesticsteed doesn't like about Murugan Idli Shop:
This restaurant is loosing it's credibility, five years before service and taste far better, now If you order any dish even idly it would take 15 minutes to deliver, chutey taste is worst, sambar was burnt, seems to be shortage of staffs, menu is very less, since it is located in prime location people are coming here. Good place for vegetarian food, Jigarthanda is awesome. Located inside city , quick and good service.
The idlis and dosas are simply yummy. The variety of chutneys goes well with the idlis and dosas. Ghee podi idli is a must try. Jigarthanda is awesome.
We had a great breakfast. We ordered, idly, dosai and puri. I ordered masala dosai and it was very tasty. The masala dosai was very big for my consumption. The staff and service were really good. The price is reasonable.
Hoping for some nice South Indian food for which Madurai is famous for, we were extremely happy with our Ghee Dosa and frankly it’s one of the nicest things I have ever tasted. Very much recommended!!
We went for a quick snack late in the afternoon before the temple visit. Ordered the idli. It was (served on banana leaf )warm and fluffy (4) Surrounded by a variety of chutneys and podi with oil. The Sambar was poured on top. Each chutney had a unique flavour. We washed it down with an interesting drink called Jigarthanda- milkshake with fine jelly particles with a dollop of ice cream. It was so refreshing. Must do if you are in the temple area.
