"Stopped here for lunch. It's a deli/market. Three of us had the lobster sandwich and chowder. The chowder was delicious. The lobster sandwich was just ok. Melanie got the turkey wrap and we all agree she got the best sandwich of the day! The bakery has delightful treats!"

"We stopped in this lovely bay front restaurant on our way to Lunenburg. The vegan options were delicious the pizzas, pasta, hummus plate and the roasted tomato and red pepper soup was especially yummy. As a raw vegan it can be hard to eat on the road sometimes, but I was accommodated nicely with a variety of local greens and veggies. Lovely view of Mahone Bay."

"I think the other reviews of this restaurant must be purchased. This was a horrible experience with all three of our meals being bad. The chowder was horrible, way too saturated with flour, the salad was dripping with Ceasar dressing so badly it was a little bit of romaine with your dressing. We won't be back."

"Mussels in white wine sauce were delicious. The sauce was especially tangy and flavourful.Lobster roll tasted fresh and juicy, and the sauce wasn’t overpowering.Their house tartar sauce was also quite light and was the perfect compliment to fried fish."

"New owners this summer and I won't go back! We always loved the Shanty but the menu and the food has changed. I had the corn chowder which was an odd, room temp corn soup. It was bland and awful. My husband had fish and chips that wasn't cooked through so batter was gooey. If you are looking for waterfront dining in Chester area, The Rope Lift never disappoints! Focsle Tavern, Kiwi Cafe and Gold Bean Cafe are always good too!"

"A cute little restaurant, that curls up and dies as soon as the tourists leave, reminding the locals that they don't matter in their own town as far as this cute little tourist destination is concerned.
