What 71anthonyb doesn't like about Culpeper's Chilston Park:
Rated 3 of 5 because of the 5 course tasting menu, one course was a sorbet not a course) and one the soup was, in my opinion, the amuse bouche. Bread was excellent so didn’t go hungry. The Tasting Menu needs to be more spectacular. In the meantime it maybe best to stick to the a la carte. Service was very good. View all feedback.
Celebrated my 75th birthday with dinner here 10 days ago incredible service, eating and wein. Five of us were treated royally from the arrival to the departure and enjoy perfect personal and friendly service of karen and excellent eating, whether it was the scallops, mosquitoes, best ever beef tare, for beginners followed by the finest bark fillet in waington, superison
I have been a couple of times for a wonderful afternoon tea at Chilston and never disappoints. I took my Mum and friend for lunch this weekend to celebrate a birthday. Lovely touch on the table, a birthday card from the staff for friend whose birthday it was. I made a request at booking to sit by the window was honoured despite being a bigger table and there were only 3 of us and the restaurant being very busy thank you. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, well presented great vegetarian choices too. The dishes were flavoursome and seasoned perfectly. I don’t like fondant potatoes and several alternative options offered without hesitation. Lovely touch at the end when the Chef came to each table individually and told us about himself and his passion for food. Overall was a wonderful experience. It is somewhere I want to go with my family for my 60th in April and very much looking forward to returning. Can’t praise it enough. Fantastic

The atmosphere of the Hotel and the services were brilliant. The restaurant was making the effort to put 10 of us sitting together for the retirement celebration. They also left a small retirement card to wish Tina happy retirement. She was very happy. The quality of food was superb and taste very good. The chef went beyond to cook us some fresh custard for the sticky toffee pudding. We was very impressed. We will definitely return.
Despite the limited choices, we found a couple of items to order. The crab starter was tasty but the portion size was lacking. The slow cooked pork cheeks we ordered were flavorful and tender, but the accompaniments of sweet potato puree, baby leeks, and caramelized gala apples were disappointingly sparse and should have been listed as garnishes. We also discovered that some items on the bill were priced higher than what was advertised on both the meal menu and wine menu. After bringing these discrepancies to the attention of the staff, the bill was corrected. While the staff were courteous and accommodating, the overall experience left much to be desired. It was clear why we were the only diners in the large dining room that day.
