What Jennine Stevens doesn't like about Asia Gourmet:
I live close by and decided to give them a second try. So crab Rangoon was delicious. Spareribs and beef teriyaki not great....so salty! Scallion pancakes were very good. So a mixed bag when ordering appetizers. The people seem nice, but I'm not too fond of the waiting outside for my order especially when it's freezing out. I arrived at the quoted time. Also, a little expensive. View all feedback.
This place is an animal in front of all other Chinese food spots in Malden. Food was overflowing and the quality is amazing for the price. The checkout is so nice and friendly and I think she has a few extra appetizers in my bag waiting for the 10 minutes in the cold weather. This is the hole in the wall of Chinese food you see? I'm looking. Many parking spaces on the T-stop over the street if you need it.
Best homemade Asian food ever! The lady there was super nice, we ordered four dishes for four people, it was delicious and the portions shocked us, it was a great deal. Very recommended!
If I could give this place, I would. I ordered the sesame sweet and sweet and sour chicken with Vegitable roasted rice two days ago and it was TERRIBLE! Such a disappointment. The chicken was cooked. Batter was very hard. The meat absorbed so much oil that I could not even taste it or chew it. $20 the air is what I had. Maybe I caught them at a bad time or they rushed. But you shouldn't serve someone like that. Then they had the boldness to add additional chicken on the side. It was worse than the chicken in the tray. After this first impression, I don't know if I ever come back. In addition, the vegetables taste like mint.
What a wonderful front counter called Gigi. Great food too!
Definitely the best Chinese food I've had in the Malden area. Probably one of the best Chinese takeout places in the Boston area too. Everything was super good, made quickly, and the service was great too. Breakdown of what I ordered: Pork Fried Rice This is a huge helping of rice, and it's good enough to just eat on its own. The pork is super flavorful and is in big pieces. The fried rice is also THE CORRECT COLOR... if you've ordered from some other Chinese places in the Malden area, you probably know what I'm talking about. Scallion Pancakes Really good, the texture was pretty flaky which I didn't expect but I honestly liked it better than the scallion pancakes I've had at other restaurants. The dipping sauce with it was SO GOOD! Egg Roll I had one that was disappointing. Super heavy on the vegetables and they were cut a bit chunky, and the flavors and textures were kinda samey to me. The other Egg Roll was amazing with a good mix of meat and veggies. Also, they are huge. Spring Roll I really liked it. Basically just tasted like a better version of the Egg Roll, flavors were better but it was smaller different wrapping. I would order this instead of the egg roll. Ma Po Tofu Very good, pretty spicy, and the portion was HUGE! It was overflowing with tofu, meat, and sauce. As far as takeout Ma Po Tofu goes, probably the best I've had. General Gao Chicken A little spicier than expected but definitely not too spicy. Their sauce is very good, and might be made inhouse because it's different (and better than most other Gao sauces I've had. The chicken was really crisp and delicious. Tons and tons of chicken for only like $13. Can't wait to try more stuff on the menu!! To the restaurant owners: Keep doing what you're doing! : :
