"Absolutely terrible. Two of us ordered grilled snapper and grilled garlic puzzles with chips. Chips were completely blond and undercooked. Snapper was as hard as overcooked chicken and the shrimps were not grilled and we are the frozen Vietnamese type. My friend... had Quid, who had somehow removed any taste. Soft, but absolutely tasteless. We complained to the waitress who showed her how hard the fish was and she says what I can do for you to help. I told her we were in a hurry so we can't wait until another plate is cooked, maybe at least a discount. Next, managers and cook come out. I showed them both how my fork could bounce from this fish and the cook actually said that "as it must be cooked, it can not be cooked less than that?! What? There's nowhere between raw and rubber? I even cut it with fork and knife to show them how hard it was. They wanted to recognize everything. No, thanks. We paid the bill and not $1 discount. How he can be a cook is beyond me. directly on the water in a coastal town and it was unpredictable! $30 for a lunch special and was not worth $5"

"It's not often that you go to a restaurant and have such difficulty deciding what to order, as everything you've had on the menu is so incredible. Amazing family run restaurant and what a lovely family they are. Allison, Audrey Gracie are such friendly and attentive front of house staff and John, his son and team are truly incredible chefs and cooks. I genuinely believe that out of the top 5 meals i've ever had, 4 of them would be from Merry Street Restaurant. Things i'd recommend to order, menu permitting in no particular order): 1. Surfer Burger nice bacon and BBQ sauce) 2. Lamb Burger has an awesome beetroot and feta or goats cheese thing going on) 3. Prawn and Chorizo Linguini has a perfect amount of flavour and spice) 4. Zucchini Flowers something different and comes with a tomato based type of sauce on the side we get these every time they have them) 5. Seafood Chowder incredible dish with a range of seafood. I reckon it's on par with the famous chowder joints in New England. We hope to see this one back on the menu next winter) 6. Salt Pepper Squid had it one night when it was all they had available, whilst it's not typically a dish I would order, it is really good and would recommend it if this is what you're into) 7. Mixed Antipasto Board good range of nibbles. Smoked olives were surprisingly warm when served and now I cannot imagine eating them any other way) 8. Oysters Kilpatrick I usually prefer oysters with a vinaigrette however these are very good if you like the worcetershire/bacon flavours) 9. Chicken Burger not your typical thick and juicy deep fried chicken burger, it's more of a thin cut and then grilled... but wow... this one is a go for sure). It's likely the most expensive place for food in the Bawley/Kioloa area $20 35 per adult) but it's 100% worth every cent... and everyone that we've either been with or brought to agrees. Cannot recommend this place enough. Wish it was open 7 days a week."

"Great little place with a very friendly staff. We stayed in Batemans Bay for 3 nights and became almost 'regulars' because other places we tried were simply not so good value for money for breakfast and lunch. The "minimum breakfast" was perfect for those who want... a lighter start to the day, more than toast and cereals. Great coffee! We made waffles for lunch and I had to go back and more for breakfast on the way out of town. I had the Canadian (with bacon and maple syrup) and my partner had a huge banana and strawberry covered waffle with ice. Very recommended."

"Do not order off the specials board. Ordered an eye fillet that was black, had to send it back and then got charged for it. Oysters were about the only thing acceptable. Pepper sauce is foul."
