El Potro - Mar del plata

The food and service were both great. A wonderful family-owned restaurant. I enjoy shopping at their store next door, too.

This little gem of a restaurant, set back in a lot, caught my eye as I was driving down Manchester. Went for the first time a couple of days later. Generous portions and delicious food! Will definitely be back.

I love this store. The folks who run it are so friendly. For example, one time, I was planning to make my Mom chile relleno — her favorite Mexican dish so, I went to Dierbergs and got most of the ingredients — including the poblano peppers, which at Dierbergs, the quality seemed….meh. I didn’t like the cheese options at the big store, so I went to El Potro to try to find oaxaca cheese. They had that and also, they had the most beautiful, plump, green and fragrant poblano peppers. The new restaurant is absolutely delicious! The food was so so fresh!!! The service is super friendly. Everything is so clean too!

I come here to buy ingredients for my homemade salsa verde. My husband loves the fresh Mexican sweet breads. We also love the fresh tamales available on Sundays.
