We had a lovely lunch sitting in the afternoon sun. They have deck chairs and a beautiful grassed area. We didn't do the wine tasting but the lunch menu was perfectly balanced. Can't wait to go again. View all feedback.
If you are fortunate enough to have Katie serving at your table, you are on to a definite winnerWhat a delightful young lady, not only very friendly but extremely knowledgable about both the food and wines at the restaurantOn a cold wet day the open fire just added to the warm and welcoming feel of the placeThe octopus entree was delicious and tender but the crispy skin barramundi main was superbNot only was the fish cooked perfectly but the flavour and balance of the sauce impeccableIf that wasn't enough of a palate pleaser already, there was a roasted and dehydrated vegetable ash around the plate which just took flavour to another levelAmazingThe four of us had a delightful lunch experienceThank you Katie and Chef
Wonderful location, a beautiful restaurant, attentive staff and excellent food. We dined mid-week and the only thing that detracted from the experience was that the restaurant is a large space and there only 4 tables of diners. On a busy day I have no doubt the buzz would be very good. The 3 courses for $60 offer is exceptionally good value - given you have the full menu to choose from! The pick of the dishes for us was definitely the gnocchi with kangaroo as an entree - wonderful strong flavours. The octopus was also very good as a starter. The pork scotch fillet for the main and tart tartin were both very good. You will definitely find yourself spoilt for choice with the wine list of Xanadu wines.
I wish I could give this restaurant 4.5 stars. The staff were amazing and did everything in their power to help us. We had three young children with us and the waitress set us a table outside so we could watch the children play, brought the kids activities to complete, advised us that the kids meals were big enough to share, and gave us ideas about places to visit. She was just so lovely. The dumpling dessert was divine but the rest of the food was okay. The pork main was cooked perfectly but the flavours didn't wow me. The share platter was also good but the terrine was very fatty and something I didn't really want to eat. Overall we had a very relaxing time at Xanadu and we would definitely visit again.
Amazing lunch with the girls, had a wine tasting first which was pleasant & informative, chose our wines for lunch. Hard choice but settled on Sparkling to start & the Stevens Road Chardonnay to follow, both outstanding. We all chose the 3 course menu at $60 and was well worth it. Started with entrees, raw Kingfish was complex & full of flavour, followed by the beef cheeks which were amazing, so yummy & meltingly tender. Managed to fit in dessert, the donut dumplings with feather floss & pistachio ice cream was to die for. One of the girls had the mixed platter entree which was excellent & would easily have fed two people, it had the cutest individual little loaves of bread to accompany the yummy pate etc Two friends both had the kangaroo gnocchi which they said was awesome but not a fan of this meat personally. Finished with coffee by the fire on a chilly wet day, perfect. Service was great, efficient & professional through out. Will definitely be paying another visit. Suitable for couples & would also be fine for larger groups. Maybe not the first choice for families with young children.
Xanadu is a place that emphasizes great pride in their food. Each dish is immaculate in its thought and conception. Kudos to the chef for putting so much effort to make this a complete meal. The cuttlefish starter exuded elements of the sea with every bite, the barramundi was delicious. My husband tried the opulent Xanadu board. It was great although the caramelized pork needed some getting used to. The desserts were lovely. If anything the food came out rather too slowly. So this is not a place for those with a busy margaret river program.
