"Walt from Walt's Adventures reporting from Mariposa, California.My adventuring party saw a small chalkboard sign for the Hideout Saloon. We choose to venture forth to seek out the Hideout. We followed the small signs off the main street, down a stairway and onto an outside eating area. We were welcomed as family upon entering the saloon. The entire establishment was covered with dollar bills with each one from previous patrons and each one had different signatures or messages. The food, as described by the pictures, were some of the best food we had the honor of eating. Their menu was extensive but, unlike other restaurants, this eatery was not a restaurant... it was a Saloon. It was not a bar nor a pub but had the pleasure of referring itself to its highest level name, a saloon. I awarded the Hideout 5 stars because I was not allowed to give it 6. If you ever are walking around a town and see a small sign for an eatery, give it a chance. In doing so today, we saw that the town of Mariposa held within its history... a gem. It was called The Hideout Saloon."

"This establishment served the most delectable garlic burger and garlic fries I've ever encountered! Our visit on a Friday afternoon, between 12-1pm, was pleasantly uncrowded. The staff, particularly the lady who took our order, shared our passion for all things garlic and recommended their exceptional garlic fries. Her hospitality shone through as she even offered us a pitcher of water to combat the scorching weather. To our amazement, the portions of both the burger and fries were incredibly generous. The burger patties were juicy and packed with flavor. Without a doubt, these garlic fries rank as the best I've ever had. It was such a truly delightful dining experience that we returned the next two days during our stay in Mariposa."

"And this is a fantastic local tavern right outside of Oakhurst California. After a long day hiking around Yosemite it was a nice meal with friendly people on a nice environment. Kid-friendliness: Everyone seem to know everyone that walked in. Kind of like being in a Cheers episode. Made us feel right at home. Parking: Didn 't have a problem parking are rented Expedition in this parking lot."

"Just the BEST!! Don’t look anywhere else. This place if perfect! My hubs and I stayed in cabin 49 at Tenaya lodge last week for two nights. From the moment we got on property we felt relaxed and at home. Checking in was easy and they let us into our cabin (2 hours early). All the staff we encountered or spoke to were incredibly friendly and very informative.The main lodge itself is beautiful and is tucked away nicely in the woods. This place is a great jumping off point for visiting the park. It’s very close and convenient without being inside the park. Our little cabin was the first in a row of identical cabins on a little driveway- type road so you could pull your car up to your cabin and unload your things without having to lug it from the parking lot (which is not far at all but this is just extremely convenient). The cabins (were we stayed) were set up like a little neighborhood, but each one feels very private. Our cabin was pretty new or just well taken care of. It was clean, roomy comfortable and adorable! The living room/kitchen area has a leather sofa with a pull out couch and a gas fireplace (that works almost too well). Kitchenette has everything you’d need minus a stovetop (great microwave though} Down the hall there are two bedrooms and a good size bathroom. Both bedrooms are roomy and easily sleep two. The master bedroom is a little larger and very cozy and romantic with a view that looks out onto the back porch and pretty backyard woods. The deck is a great size and we spent a lot of quiet time out there on the Adirondack chairs. It is also very private. The cabins are set in a way that you will never see your neighbors (unless you want to). I was greeted with Hersey kisses and rose petals on our bed when we arrived. The lodge offered this and it was sweet and certainly set the tone for our little getaway. I could go on and on.... about this place ... it was that good. The restaurant (the Jackalope) in the lodge is very good. We ate there twice and both times were delicious. Room service wasn’t offered because of the corona virus but you can order and go pick up your food at the main lodge. It was a petty seamless process. Any time we called the front office needing something; extra towels, coffee, creamer, etc.. it came fast and friendly. Everything in the cabin worked and it really felt like a home away from home for a couple days. We can’t wait to get back. Thanks Tenaya! Bravo! See you soon."

"After a walk in the canned for drinks stopped. Good selection of beer. I wasn't for the local wine I tried. There was a salad that could be made vegan without the Feta cheese. Fries cooked in the same oil as meat dishes. Not many options for vegans."
