We really enjoyed the pizza in this beautiful town of Martina Franca. The trattoria is just metres away from the cathedral and sitting 'al fresco ' watching people strolling in the early hours of the evening made our dinner even more enjoyable. View all feedback.
What HampshireBirdman doesn't like about Trattoria Ricci:
On a fairly busy Saturday evening visited Trattoria Ricci for dinner, all the outside seating was full so we sat inside. This was quite warm, well hot actually. Service was fairly slow, but the waiter did apologize for the delay. The aubergine, funghi and peppers in oil, a dish we both enjoy, tasted only of vinegar. My pizza was acceptable with plenty of cheese and speck. My wife however remarked that it took 'great... View all feedback.
Trattoria Ricci offers the best value for excellent food in the area. I've been visiting Martina for over 15yrs and always eat here at least twice on each trip. On our last visit I had the best veal chop I've ever had, a massive chop with the fillet. My husband shared a huge T bone and sausages with our friend, our friend's wife had fillet steak, our meal was accompanied with lovely jacket potatoes and salad, we had a selection of cold Italian meats and cheese to start and we got through two litres of the excellent house wine. The quality of the meat is unbeatable and a few days after we returned we were shopping in Waitrose where a veal chop, minus fillet was selling for almost £12.00 which is more expensive than Ricci's charge for the chop cooked beautifully and served with a smile, and while sitting in a fabulous square surrounded by wonderful Baroque buildings. Can't be beaten for meat, service, price and setting. We'll be back when we return to Martina in September.
There is something very special about Da Ricci's. Situated as it is directly opposite its touristy equivalent, the difference in authenticity, ambience, price and pizza quality couldn't be more stark. Always busy on a weekend, it really is worth the wait here as the pizza is sublime. The secret of a great (rather than good) pizza is the balance between topping and base. Da Ricci's have perfectly seasoned and crisp bases with just the right amount of topping. In these pizzas the bread is the star of the show with the topping simply complementary (but very tasty). Value for money is second to none as it is possible to feed two adults and two young children, with water and a half litre of house white for under €25. Excellent place that my family and I visited three times last week. For pizza why would you go anywhere else?
We've chosen this place for our dinner on our first evening in Valle d'Itria and didn't want to go anywhere else for dinner after that (for the next 3 evenings that we've stayed in the area). The pizzeria is combined with a macelleria so it doesn't just have really great pizzas but also fabulous grilled meat. The price of food and drinks is very reasonable and it the place has superb position in the middle of two largest piazzetas in the Martina Franca old town. Service is commendable as well!
Wonderful if you eat outside for view of the baroque church. Good value and lovely food. Pizza I had was superb. Starters were huge we ordered two between three of us and one might have done. Wine very cheep but good.
Tutto perfetto. Dall' accoglienza al conto. Ottimo il servizio e le materie prime. Perfetta anche la cottura. Consigliato
