What User likes about La Caminada:

"For a single-handed business, this is nothing short of extraordinary: locally sourced organic ingredients of the highest quality are presented daily in a simple yet subtly original menu which combines great flavours (pork with caramel, tamarind with roquefort, sweetend ewe's milk with pepper) with great attention to detail and presentational flair.Aurelie, a highly-trained pastry chef, can turn her hand to just about any culinary technique, but rather than showing off prefers to concentrate on innovative flavour combinations, while simultaneously handling front of house and table service. The bookish setting (the Lieu-Dit is a bookshop run by an eco coop) belies the sophistication of the cooking, which, while unpretentious, wouldn't be out of place in a high-class metropolitan eaterie - think early Conran).Open lunchimes Tuesday to Saturday, the daily menu offers three lovingly-presented courses (including homemeade chocolate) for 15 euros - amazing! There'a a vegetarian option, and Aurelie will also take bookings for evening partries (minimum 15 people), as well as creating gateaux to order. This really is THE place to eat in Saint Affrique, don't miss it. And best to book ahead if you want a good table."

"This is our true experience and what we experienced during our stay. Very disappointed with the rooms. Stunning smells in the 2 rooms we took. On the beds those old fashioned 80s style fleece and/or nylon blankets that smell musty and smell dirty. Already I haven't touched them (I had to put them in the closet it smelled so bad) but who wants these things on their bed when it's 34°C outside? The fridge in the room does not work, the sockets are not stable (the antenna socket cover fell on the floor) and the dust made us sneeze in both rooms. The bathrooms have been redone and are very clean but the rooms are run down and need renovation and a major style update. The swimming pool is quite clean apart from the brown which is starting to stain the liner, but unfortunately there were very strong smells of sewage in the swimming pool which spoiled the pleasure. The hotel needs to be renovated and the bedding updated. Resto ok but no more. Portions not plentiful. My ice cream was melted by the time this happened. My fish not cooked, even if changed immediately by the nice waitress. Very friendly staff. Hotel and restaurant expensive for what it is."
