Very tasty ice-cream and croissants. You can find them in many flavours. The service was very good and kind. Nice place to have something sweet or coffee.

After waiting several minutes for service (nobody else present) the woman serving continued talking to each other we finally received our icecream. Not a single...

I have been traveling Southern Italy for the past 2 weeks and have eaten at many, many, many gelaterias. This one is by far THE BEST. It is in beautiful Matera.

"A very pleasant interior and interesting menu. I enjoyed carpaccio of beef to start and a fusilli pasta as my main course, which was a little cold when it arrived. My wife chose a bean purée and “chicory” starter which was very salty, followed by octopus which was dry and needed a sauce to accompany it. The restaurant was busy with a limited number of menus. So, it took quite a while to actually get a menu. Only one of the wait staff spoke English and not very well which is unusual these days. There were a number of diners, including myself, who asked for a beer prior to ordering and all of us were served a beer without a glass. I eventually prevailed on the one waiter who spoke English to bring a glass. Other diners gave up and drank from the bottle. Hilarious but most unusual! All in all, I would say that the wait staff were earnest but not as experienced as we would expect from a restaurant rated as highly as it is."

"Really charming stay. If you want to have the true 'Sassi ' experience in Matera, this won 't disappoint. It 's a bit hard to get to, but if you 're in good health and don 't mind walking up down steps, it 's all worth it. The rooms can be humid inside, albeit the Aircon system helps. You 're sleeping inside a rock after all. I wouldn 't just stay more than 1 or 2 nights, or else it may get uncomfortable. Staff were super nice, helpful and accommodating."

"Wonderful meal. I had a simple pasta with tomatoes and cheese that was delicious. My non GF husband loved his GF pizza. There was only one server (the owner maybe? for about 30 people and it wasn’t the fastest experience, but most if not everything seemed to be gluten free. Would definitely recommend. We were lucky and got in without a reservation but I’d recommend that too it fills up fast."
