"Really charming stay. If you want to have the true 'Sassi ' experience in Matera, this won 't disappoint. It 's a bit hard to get to, but if you 're in good health and don 't mind walking up down steps, it 's all worth it. The rooms can be humid inside, albeit the Aircon system helps. You 're sleeping inside a rock after all. I wouldn 't just stay more than 1 or 2 nights, or else it may get uncomfortable. Staff were super nice, helpful and accommodating."

"Caved place, elegant, minimalist décor, with Greek mythological inspiration. Following the waiter’s suggestion, we had 3 different antipasti, that turned out to be too much: Fava purée, meatballs and fried peppers. I couldn’t find the meat in the meatballs, so maybe it was a different dish that what I had thought. The fried peppers were not hot, even sweet, with a very light flavor. My husband’s pork fillet in apple sauce was wonderful; my beef fillet with mushrooms sauce and wine reduction was good, but the pork was better. Ask for the owner’s tour. In the bar room, you’ll see caryatid like columns, representing female figures like Cassandra and Briseida. In another room, engraved on a wall, Demeter saves Persephone from Hades. In all the floor, you can follow Ariadnne’s thread in deep red stones on the turf floor. There are many different rooms where events and private dinners can be held."
