Had an enjoyable hour with a drink waiting for our train. Inside were a large selection of superb chocolates. The meals looked good but we only had an ice-cream and a couple of drinks as it wasn't a meal time. We sat outside on the street enjoying the sunshine but would definitely have eaten had it been a mealtime View all feedback.

The bar has nothing special and is too expensive for what it offers: 1 little fruit salad 6.00 euros (with or without icecream). The service is poor and is definitely to be avoided. View all feedback.

We just called in for a quick coffee and cake and it was very nice, as in so many cafes here the coffee is smaller than we get in England but it was good anyway...

We rode into Matera on a motorcycle with no hotel accommodations booked on the Ferragosto holiday, 2017. We stopped at Bar Piccolo as we saw people sitting outs...

"A very pleasant interior and interesting menu. I enjoyed carpaccio of beef to start and a fusilli pasta as my main course, which was a little cold when it arrived. My wife chose a bean purée and “chicory” starter which was very salty, followed by octopus which was dry and needed a sauce to accompany it. The restaurant was busy with a limited number of menus. So, it took quite a while to actually get a menu. Only one of the wait staff spoke English and not very well which is unusual these days. There were a number of diners, including myself, who asked for a beer prior to ordering and all of us were served a beer without a glass. I eventually prevailed on the one waiter who spoke English to bring a glass. Other diners gave up and drank from the bottle. Hilarious but most unusual! All in all, I would say that the wait staff were earnest but not as experienced as we would expect from a restaurant rated as highly as it is."
