"I don't get all the hype. Way overpriced for a view of the mall. Ate on the beach (la marea) the night before and it was just as good for less cost. I won't come again. This place has nothing on hector's or Pancho's or any place of similar cost"

"We have spent a lot of time in Mazatlan for the past 10+ years, but are originally from New York, where we lived for most of our lives. When in NY we were members of the NYSS (New York Sushi Society) and had sushi "eatings" (as compared to meetings). When we first visited Mazatlan we just figured that we would find some very good sushi (because of its Ocean location); but instead we have been disappointed over and over again. Last night, when we ate at Mahi Sushi Bar at their location in Plaza Lomas, which is situated just a little north of, and on the same side of the street as, HSBC, I am pleased to say that we were not disappointed.Frankly, the fact is that we have NEVER found sushi anywhere in the world that has been as good as what we experienced in New York, so I am not about to say that this was the best sushi that we have ever eaten. Still, it was very good, and somewhat creative sushi. It was a pleasure to see that the menu did not have a cream cheese fixation (as do the menus in many of the other sushi restaurants here in Mazatlan). I was a little surprised at the cost of the rolls ... BUT I was impressed with their size and combined with the current exchange rates, the cost to eat at Mahi was reasonable.You will not find any high end sushi at Mahi. I came across Uni here in Mazatlan once several years ago; as well as scallops, but they are not to be found at Mahi. The sushi offerings were the basic Salmon, Tuna, Fake Crab, and Shrimp. Some of the rolls had fruit on them, which was certainly different. The beer was very reasonable (at 10 pesos for a bottle); and the bottomless cold Jasmine Tea was excellent. .Bottom line: I think you will have a nice meal at Mahi Sushi; the four people in our dinner party all enjoyed."

"6 of us visited last night all ordering different entrées. We were not told that a mixed drink could me brought from Barracuda's...so strike that idea. One of the ladies ordered the salad. Contrary to a review on this site the salad wasn't much more than a bowl of lettuce. So strike that! La Mona's HAS great salads... not close here. The burritos/tacos in the colorful tortillas were fine and tasty. Myself and one other ordered a rib-eye steaks and they were excellent. The music was loud and mostly hip-hop. I would play something with broader appeal..All in all we visited because of the previous favorable reviews. Reviews are great and useful marketing tool but please don't fabricate."
