"We went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had high expectations. It’s nicely decorated, but environment was a bit stiff and not so welcoming. It had an amazing start. The risotto with truffle and the langoustine and caviar appetiser were divine. It got us...so happy and exciting initially. Then there’s an amuse bouche, something with mushroom and coffee mousse. It was so strange, the mushroom didn’t taste good itself, and they didn’t match with each other. We hardly finished half of it and it totally ruined the appetite. Then we had the poultry which was for 2 persons. Before serving, they proudly brought out the pot to impress us. It didn’t smell amazing (hardly any good smell) and we felt it’s so odd. Then after a long time, we were served the chicken breast. It was tasteless, and mine was very dry. We were so disappointed and decided not to have dessert. They gave us several petite desserts but none was impressive. Last but not the least, staff were often ‘missing’, not there to help you with the food or wine choices, or when you need anything."

"This restaurant is a must in chamonix. in a sea of moderate or worse restaurants in chamonix, comptoir is a stellar standout. it would actually be a superstar in the food scene in every city. eating was the close eyes while they taste kind of good. the service was impeccable, well maintained and extremely friendly. in addition to all those who sommelier absolutely crushed their pairing recommendations. when you go to cham, go to comptoir. "Not the experience we were looking for when we booked. 11 degrees outside and the front door was kept open all the time a cold place for dinner. the room is generic and not comfortable. but let us talk about eating an escape from local cheese and tomato, quite unusual for “mountain kitchen”. low temperature pork was uneven, with over boiled sharing at all not delicate. the chives were literally everywhere, on every meal. the vegetarian main dish had no taste at all, with various iterations of the same veggie, carrots in this special case. we saw distinctly different tables that add salt to their meal times. at the end we went to this place because of the Michelin guide. according to our opinion, it should not be there at all. many improvements on the kitchen side on the other side, staff is very friendly. this review does not want to sound rude or mean, it was just a terrible personal experience."
