we prepaid for a set menu, but struggled to get service. at the end we cut our losses and went. stars for the location and the food we receive, but for us this was a more expensive mistake. View all feedback.
Came by for dinner as we had just come from the Southbank DFO. It is one of the many restaurants lining the river in this area. We had options of sitting inside or out, and we opted for in. The outside area was on the riverside so it is quite a nice place to eat if it's not too hot. Quite a few food options, both for meat eaters and non-meat eaters. I had the grilled corn and the halloumi skewers. We were seated next to the grill and it was nice watching the chefs grilling and then dressing the food. The food was tasty but thought it was on the pricey side. Unsurprisingly, it is suited for carnivores.
Nice patio seating option to enjoy the weather and a little people watching. Lemon pepper calamari was cooked and seasoned well. Steak was done right at medium rare and was tasty without extra sauces. Service was prompt and friendly. Pricing was a little steep for the quality and quantity of the food.
Meat Market South Wharf is a great restaurant with stunning views of Melbourne. My meal was cooked to perfection and would easily get 5 stars with a few minor adjustments. The wagu burger patty had shrunk which made the burger look odd flavour was on point . The fries were an interesting pairing as I was expecting something more rustic the real odd part was the inclusion of a small bowl of tomato sauce. I would have expected a small selection of sauces to choose from but this did not happen when ordering. Apart from these minor flaws, I 'd happily return the next time I 'm in town.
Honestly pretty overpriced for what you get. We visited for lunch and the place was not busy. The initial service was good and no real complaints here. Food wise it was very disappointing and then when coupled with the price it just makes it not worth it. I do not recommend their burgers, you could do better at home, in fact I'm pretty sure the buns they use are just the cheap tear away buns found at Coles. Other people I was with ordered the salmon and a steak both were ok but nothing that amazing. Overall I left disappointed in the food, when I looked at the menu and the prices I was expecting great tasting food but what we got was not anywhere near worth the cost.
We had the express lunch here but the grill here wasn't cooked well, it's mostly burned on the edges and turned out with a bitter taste. Even the chicken brisket of the appetizer as well. The Angus beef cheese burger are great.
