This restaurant is in the middle of Melbourne Chinatown. It is very convenient and offering fast and tasty Japanese food and snack. We love the Original Beef Don with Egg, Teriyaki Chicken Udon and Pork Gyoza. As for dessert, the Green Tea Soft Serve, Black Sesame Soft Serve and Green Tea Iced Latte are good. This is a simple and no frills restaurant. View all feedback.

I have visited this restaurant several times before without any issues, but during my most recent visit I found a large dead spider in my food. How could this have happened?! This is not acceptable! View all feedback.
The portions are generous, the food is delicious, and the prices are affordable. What more could you ask for? I had a great experience.

One evening, we visited Chinatown in search of Chinese food, but ended up at a small fast food Japanese restaurant. We liked it so much that we returned the next day for lunch as well. The food was of good quality and affordable, making this restaurant a great discovery. It always seems to be bustling with customers, and the staff does struggle to keep the tables clean, but overall, we had a positive experience.
This place makes a mean jap curry. Not bad value. Only issue is that don’t clear tables when it’s busy
Thinking of something Japanese, quick and yummy? You are in the right place. Rice workshop introduces itself as a Japanese rice bowl bar that offers quick Donburi (rice bowls and bento boxes at great value. It has many stores around Melbourne but this particular one has always been in Chinatown for more than 5 years now. We were recently visit to try their winter menu, Spicy Pork Belly bowl. We also tried their Grilled Teriyaki Salmon with some of their sides such as vegetables pancakes, fried squid and fried scallops. Truly love their selections of side dishes which you can pick yourselves upon ordering your food at the counter. Spicy Pork Belly bowl comes with salad too like everything else, the juicy pork belly is not too spicy, just enough kick for a mild donburi style dish. The Grilled Teriyaki Salmon is well cooked and flaking easily as you would want from a perfectly cook Salmon. The teriyaki is light and sweet and so nice to be enjoyed with the rice. If you are a matcha fan, you may opt for their soft-serve. We always buy it during summer, especially with the charcoal cone. It is super great value and taste great. Too bad our soft serve was slightly too soft otherwise it would be perfect : The service is super swift, served hot and fresh. Rice Workshop is definitely your go-to place for a quick, good quality lunch with great value. 3.5/5
